Massage Doula

What is a Doula?

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.

What can a Massage Doula do for you? Help shorten the length of labor, reduce need for pain medications or epidurals, reduce the need for pitocin, reduce the need for forceps & vacuum extraction, reduce the need for c-sections, dramatically increase your odds of a natural labor, and most importantly, improve the health of your baby!

What can a Prenatal Massage do for you? It provides safe, drug-free relief of aches & pains, reduces swelling, eases pressure on the sciatic nerve, teaches relaxation skills for labor, prepares your body for delivery, assists circulation, releases emotional tension, and can improve sleep patterns.

Postpartum, massage can restore muscle tone to the abdomen, stimulate the uterus to return to its pre-pregnant size and position, alleviate muscle pain from postural shifts and fuller breasts, and the weight of the carried infant.
